Guava  trees are  to be pruned twice in a year.  one  during  Sep-Oct  and  again during March. This  is the right time to prune your guava trees .Removing past seasons terminal growth to a length  of  10-15 cms  is necessary to encorage more laterals and thereby  get more number of  good quality fruits.
the erect growing branches are to be bent  by  tiening  on to  the begs  driven on the ground. old unproductive but healthy trees can be rejuvenated  by   cutting back to 75 cms from ground level  or  by cutting the secondary branches  at a distance of 75cms  from  their  origin.
